• About Sanoma Learning

We shape the future of education

As one of Europe’s leading learning companies, our print, digital and hybrid solutions help make primary, secondary and vocational education more effective. Our methodologies are based on deep teacher and pupil insight, outstanding instructional design skills and seamless integration of the best of print and digital across the entire learning process. This enables us to create high impact learning solutions for today and tomorrow.

Our world

We are part of Sanoma Group, a front running consumer media and learning company that impacts the lives of millions of people daily. Providing multi-channel learning solutions for primary, secondary and vocational education with meaningful content, we help people understand the world.

Our learning products and solutions go beyond textbooks. We provide learning solutions that are developed with pupils’ and teachers’ interests in mind. Our solutions help teachers to be efficient and to be able to concentrate on their most valuable competence – teaching. They support pupils to unleash their whole potential to reach a higher level.

Our history

The first steps towards a learning business were taken in 1999. We first acquired a leading multimedia company and later on educational publishers were added to our portfolio.

With Sanoma Pro in Finland and the acquisition of Malmberg in The Netherlands and VAN IN in Belgium, the division Sanoma Learning was founded in 2004. Shortly followed by the acquisition of Nowa Era in Poland in 2008 and Sanoma Utbildning in Sweden in 2011. In 2016 Sanoma Learning acquired De Boeck in Belgium. Last year we added Iddink Group, Essener, itslearning and ClickEdu to our portfolio.

Today our portfolio consists of eight independent leading learning companies of which Sanoma is the holding company. Together we are one Sanoma Learning.

Our strategy

We have a strong basis to achieve our ambitions. Our roots can be found in twelve of the world’s best educational markets. We develop solutions which deliver high learning impact.

Our growth strategy is based on strengthening our position in our core markets by building the highest learning impact products, harmonizing processes and diversifying to adjacent markets.

Our mission

Our mission is to make a positive impact on learning by enabling teachers and schools to help students to reach their full potential.

Our vision

We shape the future of education. By leveraging our educational technologies and pedagogical expertise, we want to create learning products with the highest learning impact. Products that engage and motivate pupils to learn, deliver higher learning outcomes, and support teachers in teaching and managing their classes efficiently. By doing so, we want to become the best learning company in the world.

Our team

We are passionate about learning with in-depth pedagogical expertise. Together with our ever evolving technology skills and commitment to improve learning outcomes, we help shape the future of education.

Sanoma Learning’s day-to-day management is in the hands of a team of leaders that focus on growth and development of the business.
